Lakeside Academy for Boys
Lakeside Academy for Boys is a Christ-centered residential program and boarding school for boys only, age 14-18, located in Buffalo, MN. Boys stay at the beautiful Lakeside Academy campus for 12-15 months. Lakeside is specially equipped to help boys who are struggling with behavior, academics, life-controlling issues or addictions at a lower cost and higher quality than most similar programs. Lakeside is a service of Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge, one of the most successful Teen Challenge programs in the country.
During our most recent visit to Lakeside, we were amazed by their new campus, located on 48 acres and on 2 lakes near Minneapolis, Minnesota. The rural environment provides a unique opportunity for boys to go hiking, biking, swimming, kayaking, fishing, and play outdoor sports when they have earned the privilege to do so. The campus also has a barn, horses, goats, and boys can participate in learning a trade alongside staff in the workshop.
Lakeside maintains a solid Christ-centered approach, with regular chapels and spiritual-growth oriented activities. Their director also retains a Master’s Degree in Counseling.
With a fully accredited high school program through Excel High School, Lakeside provides a high-quality distance education program that allows boys to get their academics back on track in a self-paced learning environment.
After our assessment, we found Lakeside Boys Academy to be a good Christian Boarding School option for teenage boys who are struggling with anger, depression, anxiety, substance abuse (drugs, alcohol), huffing, running away, ADD, ADHD, ODD, rebellious attitudes, internet addictions, gaming addictions, lying, truancy and poor academics.
